What Is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced “Ray-key”) is a Japanese energy healing system.  The term literally translates to "Universal Life Force."

Quantum physics has shown that matter is made up of energy, and that this energy creates the world we see.  This means that our own bodies are made of energy, and that we are constantly interacting with all of the other forms of energy in our universe: sound waves, microwaves, light waves, television waves and other people’s energies.  Is it any wonder we can find ourselves sick, or out-of-balance?  Reiki serves to reset that balance.  It is a non-invasive, non-manipulating form of directing universal life force energy to heal a patient.

At its core, all illness is a form of stuck energy.  That stuck energy can manifest in many ways—from spiritual distress, to mental ailments, to emotional unease to physical symptoms.  All these signs of illness can be treated with Reiki.

Reiki serves to align energy in a patient, and to open the channels of healing to enable the patient to heal themselves.  We all have Reiki within us, just as we all have the ability to heal ourselves.  A Reiki practitioner serves as a conduit to direct universal lifeforce energy to the patient.

Reiki can aid in any type of healing on any level: spiritual, mental, emotional, or physical.  It can be directed toward an area of pain or concern, but the Reiki energy goes where it is directed to by the patient’s body; it goes where it is most needed.

Reiki also serves to relax the recipient, much like a massage.
